Kian Koohestani is an Iranian filmmaker, photographer, and visual storyteller based in Istanbul. With over a decade of experience across documentary, fiction, and experimental formats, his work weaves together poetic imagery and intimate narratives—often exploring themes of memory, identity, and the invisible layers of everyday life.
Beginning his journey through photography, Kian developed a visual language rooted in atmosphere, emotion, and cultural nuance. His cinematic work reflects a sensitivity to rhythm and silence, drawing inspiration from Persian mysticism, timeless aesthetics, and the subtle tensions between tradition and modernity.
He is the co-founder of Magi Kolektif, a creative studio focused on visual production, branding, and immersive storytelling across traditional and emerging platforms. Through both independent and collaborative projects, Kian continues to explore new ways of crafting emotionally resonant experiences that transcend borders and genres.
