Manuel Lizana Hidalgo, together with his brother, represents the third
generation of organ builders in his family. He began working at the age of
seven, learning the trade of barrel organ playing from his father, Manuel.
Over time, he perfected his craft and became a master organ builder.
He built his first barrel organ in 1991 and has since dedicated himself to the restoration and construction of these instruments. Today, he passes on his knowledge to his nephews, ensuring the continuation of the family legacy.
His invaluable work has been recognized by UNESCO, which named him a Living Human Treasure, and by the State of Chile, which declared him Intangible Cultural Heritage.
