Mrs. Didi – Nadir Gonçalves

Mrs. Nadir Gonçalves, affectionately known as Didi, is a beloved artisan from Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, who keeps alive the cherished craft of lace-making in the vibrant Lagoa da Conceição community. Together with other rendeiras, she forms a lively group where they gather to create intricate lace, sharing stories and preserving their cultural legacy. Among them, some lacemakers also sing as part of the “Rendeiras Cantadeiras,” blending their delicate artistry with soulful melodies that echo their heritage. With decades of experience, Nadir and her fellow lacemakers continue to inspire and pass down this tradition to future generations.
